Good Neighbors Australia believes that education is a powerful tool to better equip communities and change the world.
That’s why we acknowledge that quality education is one of the best ways of helping communities overcome poverty and becoming self-sufficient.
Why is Education Important?
Having access to education is a basic human right. That’s because an education is the starting point for any individual – for both children and adults. Having access to education opens new doors, and gives people dreams of a brighter future.
Children in many countries still don’t have basic access to quality education, but we are determined to change that.
We champion children’s rights through community-based child protection programs, while helping parents and communities keep their children safe from harm. We strengthen the social and economic capabilities of the most vulnerable communities across the globe.
Lifelong education also develops independence and self-reliance. This is key focus in our Community Development Projects (CDPs), because we believe that lasting changes and improvements happen when people are equipped with the resources to change their own circumstances.

Every child deserves to have their dreams and an education
Improved Access to Education
Every child, regardless of gender, economic or social situation, has the right to quality education.
We aim to make education more accessible to all by constructing more schools, libraries, youth centres and vocational training centres, in even the smallest, isolated villages.
We also assist in creating better school environments, and developing teachers’ capacities, especially addressing any obstacles for girls’ education.
Enhanced Quality of Education
Receiving quality education is equally as important as accessibility. This can be achieved by simply having good infrastructure and essential facilities like toilets, a canteen, and a safe yard for children to play in.
To do this, we also provide financial support for tuition, scholarships and education material, continuous training and skills to the teaching staff, along with running Child’s Rights Awareness programs.
Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All
At Good Neighbors Australia we believe in supporting a lifetime of learning. That’s why we provide education opportunities not only to children, but also to older members of society.
This is achieved through vocational education centres, where community members acquire literacy skills along with practical IT skills like Microsoft Word and Excel. These skills give the community members practical experience as well as the confidence to take on
relevant jobs within the community.
