EDUCATION

Good Neighbors Australia believes that education is the most powerful way with which we can change the world.

We acknowledge that quality education is one of the best ways of helping communities overcome poverty, and becoming self-sufficient.

How Your Donation Helps

The right to education is a human right, and indispensable for the exercise of other human rights. An education is a child's key to be aware of it's rights, to dream of a brighter future, and take steps to become independent and self-reliant. Making people self-reliant is a major cornerstone of our Community Development Projects (CDPs). Lasting changes and improvements happen when people are equipped with the resources to change their own circumstances. Yet, it is still a chanllenge for children in many countries.

We champion children's rights through community-based child protection programmes, helping parents and communities keep their children safe from harm, thereby strengthening the social and economic capabilities of the most vulnerable communities across the globe.

There are three key areas where your support can help our learning and development initiatives.

Every child deserves to have their dreams and an education

01

Improved Access to Education

We aim to provide an increased availability and a wider reach of schools, libraries, youth centres and vocational training centres, even in the small isolated villages.

Every child, regardless of gender, economic or social situation, has the right to quality education.

We also assist in creating better school environments, and developing teachers' capacities, especially addressing any obstacles for girls' education.

02

Enhanced Quality of Education

The quality of education provided is as important as it's accessibility - this includes good infrastructure and essential facilities like toilets, a canteen, and a safe yard to play in.

We also provide financial support for tuition, scholarships and education material, continuous training and skills to the teaching staff, along with running Child's Rights Awareness programs.

03

Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All

At Good Neighbors Australia we believe in supporting a lifetime of learning. Therefore, we provide education opportunities not only to children, but also to older members of society.

This is achieved through vocational education centres, where community members acquire literacy skills along with practical IT skills like Microsoft Word and Excel. The practical skills give the community members
hands-on experience and confidence to take on
relevant jobs within the community.

Improving the Educational Environment with New Kindergarten in Vietnam

The lives of ethnic minorities in Vietnam

Dong Lai is a small and isolated village in Vietnam, where ethnic minority groups live. Access to basic social services is very limited due to it's isolated location. Therefore, the residents had an acute shortage of educational facilities, and used an old cultural centre as a makeshift school. As a result, half of the children in the village were left unattended without access to any education or learning.

Dong lai Kindergarten Project

Good Neighbors constructed a well-equipped kindergarten facility where the children can study and play around, and as a result the ratio of children under the age of six with access to kindergarten and care services went up from 53% to 86%.
