GOOD NEIGHBORS

Good Neighbors exists to create a world free of hunger.

Good Neighbors is an international humanitarian development NGO founded in Korea in 1991 to make the world a place without hunger, where people live together in harmony.

The first community development project in Bangladesh was launched in 1992 and currently Good Neighbors is working in 212 communities in 35 countries with our focus on inclusive community development approach and child protection.

In 1994, Good Neighbors implemented its first emergency response project in Rwandan refugee situation, providing medical relief teams and establishing two schools at the refugee camps.

Starting with Rwanda emergency response, Good Neighbors has been actively responding various disaster and emergencies including Kobe earthquake in 1995, South Asia tsunami in 2004, Haiti earthquake 2010, Typhoon Haiyan in 2013 and Nepal Earthquake in 2015.

Good Neighbors has attained General consultative status with United Nations Economic and Social council (UN ECOSOC) in 1996. In recognition of valuable efforts in providing universal primary education over the world, Good Neighbors was awarded the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) Award by International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) in 2007.

We also work in cooperation with our partners including UN World Food Program (UN WFP), UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), UN Development Program (UNDP), UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) and other aid agencies.

Good Neighbors Australia launched in July 2018

Under the Good Neighbors’ international governance, we focus on fundraising, volunteer programs, and global development campaigns to support field projects.

Empowering People, Transforming Communities

Good Neighbors believes that the only way to transform communities is to empower people. We work with those who are socially and economically marginalized to enable them to be better aware of their human rights and to become self-reliant. We focus our work on the following four Global Development principles:

1. We support our suffering neighbors
2. We raise awareness of human rights and the role of duty bearers
3. We empower people
4. We promote cooperation and solidarity
