India's Covid-19 Number Of Infections Has Risen To Over 20 Million People!

The Covid-19 Situation

The COVID-19 situation in India is escalating every day as a result of large populations, dense living areas and unreliable health care systems.

The pandemic has brought families and communities anxiety, fear, depression and loss of jobs which has led to an increase in poverty. Poor communities have become more vulnerable to the basic issues of livelihood, hunger, shelter and access to health care. These communities have been affected by lockdown and movement restrictions which has meant missing out on essential resources for their health and well-being.

Many migrants have been adversely impacted by the pandemic and sadly lost their lives due to starvation, suicide, exhaustion and denial of timely medical care. The worst affected are unskilled workers, and more importantly women and children.

How Far Your Donation Can Go

The Breath Of Life

"Thank you Good Neighbors for giving back my life..."

In the midst of India's second wave of COVID-19, 16 year old, Master Ankith was leading a healthy life. Following the safety measures, he was staying at home and preparing for his first year of university studies.

However, in the blink of an eye Ankith began to develop symptoms such as: a cold, cough, chest congestion and breathlessness.

Fortunately the family were aware of emergency contacts within Good Neighbors, which allowed our team in India to get him the medical care required. As Ankith's father lost employment due to lockdown, the medical bills were piling up. Good Neighbors stepped in and completely covered the child's medical expenses under the child protection policy.

Ankith was tested positive for COVID-19 and quarantined for 21 days. During this time, he was supported with face masks, hand sanitisers, gloves, oxi-meters and nebulisers to ensure safety and monitor his road to recovery.
Following quarantine Ankith was cleared of COVID-19! He has been granted the breath of life through the support of Good Neighbors.
